We Offer Various Oral Appliances to Help Our Denver Patients Protect Their Teeth and Improve Their Health
Oral appliances can help give your teeth the support they need.
58 Dental has partnered with UnderArmour and BiteTech Laboratories to offer our patients the protection and performance professional athletes receive.
58 Dental strongly recommends a protective athletic guard for its patients engaged in contact or adventure sports. These custom-fitted guards protect the teeth from trauma which could result in fracture, displacement, necrosis of the nerve or avulsion of the teeth. These guards can be created in a variety of colors and will be adjusted to each individual’s occlusion.
Studies have proven that the UnderArmour Performance Mouthwear will help an athlete improve strength, endurance, reaction time, reduce athletic stress, and reduce impact from blows to the jaw.
Bruxism Guard (Night Guard)
58 Dental is able to fabricate multiple types of bruxism guards, tailored to an individual patient’s signs and/or symptoms of bruxism, which can range from slight tooth wear to myofascial pain, migraine headaches, and temporomandibular dysfunction. Each patient is unique and therefore each bruxism guard created is individually tailored to patient specific needs.
Sleep Apnea Appliance
Sleep apnea is a type of sleep disorder characterized by pauses in breathing or instances of shallow or infrequent breathing during sleep. Sleep apnea can range from mild to severe and should first be confirmed by a sleep study. This study will determine to what degree the patient is suffering from sleep apnea. The gold standard in treatment for sleep apnea is CPAP or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure. Dentistry is able to assist patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea with the fabrication of a mandibular advancement device. At 58 Dental, we commonly use the Thornton Adjustable Positioner device, or TAP appliance. The TAP appliance is unique in that the forward advancement of the mandible is developed based on patient specific measurements and can be refined by either the dentist or patient for maximum effectiveness. The TAP appliance is also not as bulky as many of the other appliances available. Being successfully treated for sleep apnea is life altering for the majority of patients.
